Projects

I’ve had the privilege of working on some exciting projects during my time at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media. Below are a few examples from my academic and personal work.

In Ethical Issues in Sports Communication, my group and I created a campaign that aimed to increase the overall awareness of the United States Anti-Doping Agency's testing program in an effort to normalize healthy horse racing. There were five groups that gave a pitch to the CEO of USADA, Travis Tygart. After reviewing the projects with Tygart's team at USADA, they chose our project as the overall winner. It was stated that they found real merit in specific parts of every report but felt that the our report had more strong executions than any other.

Research Project: Ad Blocker Use - MEJO 438

In Advertising in the Age of Alexa, we were tasked with conducting a research project on a topic within advertising of our choice. We studied how many UNC undergraduate students were aware of and use ad blockers and what were the primary factors that informed this decision. It is important to acknowledge the relevance of ad blockers as advertising majors so that in the future we can hopefully decrease the usage of them through better advertising. 

In Sports Communication, my group and I did primary and secondary research on ways in which we could improve the game-day experience for the Carolina Hurricanes and the UNC Men's Basketball team. We conducted interviews, focus groups, and sent out a survey. Based on the results from these research methods and from our secondary research, we created different campaign ideas. In Advertising Creative with Gary Kayye, the entire class was tasked with creating a strategy for BARCO to make a TikTok for their company. I was a part of the Creative as well as the Documents Teams. We ended up winning the pitch and should see BARCO on TikTok soon. 

The Secret to Staying Together for 50 Years - MEJO 121

During my Introduction to Digital Story Telling in my first year at UNC, we conducted interviews for a topic of our choice to create a video that told a story. My grandparents were about to celebrate their 50 year anniversary at the time, and who does not love a good love story? 

Music Video - MEJO 121

In Introduction to Digital Storytelling, I was one of the few students who chose to use my own footage for our Music Video Assignment. It was because of this video and the video about my grandparents that I was invited to attend the "Rising Star in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media" meeting with Senior Associate Dean, Charlie Tuggle.

Student Body President Campaign Instagram

In the 2022 Student Body President Election, I was a Content Creation Specialist for the Sage Staley Campaign. My responsibilities included creating graphics to be posted on social media, maintaining the Instagram, and attending campaign meetings to go over social media strategies.

"Think Outside of the Box" Campaign

In my PR Campaigns class, my team was tasked with developing a real-life campaign for Golin’s client, Walmart. Our goal was to drive toy sales to keep Walmart at the forefront of minds during the busy holiday season. My team came up with the "Think Outside of the Box" campaign.
