I started my own blog almost two years ago with every intention of posting frequently. I found comfort in putting my emotions and thoughts into words, whether I posted the blogs to my site or not. My blog is titled "Half-Full." As I discussed in my first blog post, I believe this encompasses how I have always tried to view each aspect of my life. Though it is not always easy to have a "glass half-full" or optimistic mindset, being able to adjust your perception and frame situations that seem "half-empty" is what makes for a happy lifestyle.
Then, life happened and I stopped putting aside the time to write.
Funnily enough, this has now become my homework! I am taking a class called "The Branding of Me" with the iconic, Gary Kayye. Gary is requiring us all to write blogs twice a week that reflect our personalities and shine a light on our passions.
I have experienced a lot of life changes and happy moments since blogging on Half-Full. I went to my favorite place in the world, Caye Caulker, Belize, with some of my best friends to celebrate their senior year spring break. I finished up my junior year at UNC and immediately moved to Florence, Italy, where I spent the summer working for a travel agency as a Tour Promoter/Tour Guide. I came back to the states and moved into a cute little house with my best friends to start our senior year. In September, I went to Orlando, FL, to participate in the Disney Leadership Institute with Alpha Phi International Fraternity and got to spend time with my favorite Disney Cast Member, my sister, Anna. In October, I traveled to Nashville, TN, with my roommates and some Alpha Phi sisters for fall break. In November, I went to Denver, CO, for an interview weekend for an Educational Leadership Consultant position with Alpha Phi.
Oh, and I got the job!
As an ELC, I will be able to travel around the country and give back to an organization that has enriched my college years with many friendships and memories.
The defining moments in my life are those I spent traveling and with people who make my heart whole. So, keeping my half-full mindset and the same theme of optimism, I am excited to begin blogging again about special moments in new and old places with new and old friends.
With love,
MLC
